RESTAURANT & CATERING QUEENSLAND HOSTPLUS AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE 2009
E'cco - QUEENSLAND's Restaurant of the Year

The Restaurant & Caterer’s Queensland Hostplus Awards for Excellence are the state’s largest hospitality and tourism awards.

The 2009 state awards presentation was recently held at Hillstone St Lucia, with some five hundred hospitality professionals coming together to honour the culinary diversity of our great state and to see who the top performers were for 2009.

E’cco scooped the award for Best Contemporary Australian Restaurant and was later awarded the supreme award ‘Restaurant of the Year’.

Early in the night Michel Flores from Townsville was honoured for his contribution to the industry and presented with the 2009 Queensland Lifetime Achiever Award.

And while there were many winners from across the state, the credits rolled for many Brisbane establishments….

Mons Ban Sabai Thai Garden Restaurant was awarded QLD’s Best BYO Restaurant and Best Thai Restaurant; Lure Seafood Restaurant at The Coro won Best Seafood Restaurant; Sugo Mi in Bulimba our Best Pizza Restaurant; C’est Bon in Woolloongabba the Best European Restaurant; Bar Alto in New Farm Best Italian, and the Best Fine Dining Restaurant gong went to Javier Codina’s inner-city restaurant, Gianni’s.

Brisbane restaurateur John Kilroy also scooped his share of accolades with his new Jellyfish Restaurant picking up Best New and Best Specialty Cuisine Restaurant, while his dining institution, Cha Cha Char, regained its title as Queensland’s Best Steak Restaurant.

The crowned winners from Queensland will now compete in the Restaurant & Catering Savour Australia National Awards for Excellence to be hosted in Canberra. The prestigious national awards evening will be
held on the 19th of October and the winners will be announced at a presentation dinner at Parliament House.
